| Point-source pollution from plant protection products represents one of the main causes of surface and groundwater contamination, accounting for between 50% and 70% of the total. Losses during refilling, cleaning of sprayers, and effluent produced are the primary sources of the contamination.
Reducing this pollution requires awareness, good practices, and adequate infrastructure. Agrobox, developed by MeTe srl in collaboration with one of the world's largest manufacturers of phytopharmaceuticals, offers a practical solution based on membrane technology.
After three years of testing, membranes proved to be the most effective technology in concentrating the effluent obtaining clean and reusable water, with recovery up to 98%. The system utilizes ceramic and polymeric membranes, operates with low energy consumption, it’s flexible and suitable for both individual farms and collective plants, such as the one operating in Cortaccia (BZ).
